About Marianne Virgili
Kent State University graduate Marianne Virgili excelled as a scholar and campus activist while a student at the distinguished Midwestern school. A member of Kent State’s Alpha Xi Delta chapter, Marianne Virgili played a principal role in college events, earning the attention and admiration of her peers.
As a chapter President of one of the nation’s oldest sororities, Marianne Virgili oversaw the organization of numerous charitable and social events. Additionally, Kent State undergraduates and staff recognized Marianne Virgili’s fervent commitment to academics and appointed her as Vice President of the school’s Cardinal Key Honor Society.
By her junior and senior years, Marianne Virgili had become a venerable figure on campus. Consequently, Marianne Virgili’s peers voted her Kent State Junior Woman of the Year and one of the top 12 Outstanding Senior Women Graduates. In addition, Marianne Virgili earned a nomination to the Who’s Who Among Students.
Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations, Marianne Virgili went on to manage an award-winning chamber of commerce in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Beginning her career at the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association in November 1985, Marianne Virgili has risen through the ranks of the organization to her current position as President and CEO. Marianne Virgili’s dedication to promoting Glenwood Springs’ copious and diverse tourist attractions has earned Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association several accolades as one of the top three most effective small- to medium-sized chambers of commerce in the country. Additionally, the North American Travel Journalists Association honored Marianne Virgili and her staff of eight with a best publication award for the Official Insider’s Guide to Glenwood Springs, a comprehensive visitor’s guidebook to the area.
Outside of her duties with the association, Marianne Virgili mentored a high school youth group, earning an Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award from former Colorado Governor Roy Romer for her work. Marianne Virgili additionally received a Daily Point of Light Award from President Bill Clinton and the Points of Light Institute for her extraordinary involvement in community volunteer activities.
